Question Headlight Replacement Issues

I got into a small crash a few days ago and installing a different headlight into the passenger side is causing issues with the old headlight on the driver side. The xenon bulb will not turn on unless the new headlight is disconnected from the car. Once disconnected, I can reconnect it shortly after and have both xenon bulbs turn on if I start the car in the next few minutes, but if started after then the driver side will again not turn on.

The xenon bulb on the new headlight always works, as long as it is plugged into the car obviously.

I have tried swapping the ballast, ignitor, and bulb from the working headlight to the non working headlight and I am still having the same problem. I was thinking that I should replace the light control module in the front passenger footwell, but I am not convinced it will solve my problem. I am not having issues with any other lights on the car currently.

This is in a 2005 X5 3.0i without the headlight washers

Also, the fog lamps will automatically illuminate when I have the headlights set to automatic. This did not happen before the crash as only the low beams and ambers turned on.

Hi

Don’t know how hard or where your car got hit but did you check the wiring? Simple stuff like loose grounds can cause mayor headaches.
Hope you find the hidden issue !

I have inspected the wiring and have found nothing wrong with it, the crash wasn't too bad, only the headlight shattered and the bumper sustained a bit of damage. I am going to a mechanic tomorrow to see if they can read the codes from the LCM. Will keep this post updated as it seems some others have had similar problems in the past
