Intake air temperature usually means the engine intake manifold (sensor is in the center of the manifold on M54). Maybe get a better code description, engine, year, heating system and what the symptoms are.

And the intake air temp sensor is implemented in MAF. I wouldn't rely on Carly regarding this information.
Have you checked coolant temps with diagnostics or from cluster hidden menu? Failing thermostats is one culprit on these. The running temp should be near 90 C (main thermostat is 88 C). Is your Webasto still working as it helps massively getting to running temp on cold climate.

the webasto is running non stop when engine is on. engine is beeing cooled all the time since that actual intake air temperature is so high so the engine dont get hotter than 50-53 |

Yikes ! I think you should probably take it to a shop that works on BMW.

Stop thinking about that intake temp reading. Even if it was faulty MAF (intake temp sensor) or boost temp sensor they have nothing to do with engine coolant temp. Renew the main thermostat (BMW original only) and EGR thermostat (OEM or Behr/mahle is OK) if you have one (EU4 version). With those temps Webasto will be running all the time. It drops out when coolant temp rises above 75 C.

![]() A failed-open thermostat is both likely and catastrophic in terms of the engine getting up to the proper temperature.
