Auxiliary heater issues
The weathere here in the UK is not too bad at the moment but in the next couple of months the temputure will be cold and nasty. So, i have in the past tried to set the time the heater comes on and off but nothing happens. The fuses have been checked too. Is there a guide out there that will help me check the AUX Heater that i can use? Any help much appreciated. Thank you |

There are a number of prerequisites that have to be met before the Webasto ThermoTop Z will run, e.g. it won't run if the outside temp is too warm.
INPA can run basic Webasto ThermoTop Z tests but if you don't have access to that, then a simple way to test the operation is put a jumper between pin 1 on X642 (RT/GE - Red/Yellow) to pin 1 on X764 (WS/GN - White/Green) - this should start and run the Webasto. If it does, let it run for a few minutes before removing the jumper. (see attached image). This thread might also help - it outlines the process of adding a remote start to the Webasto ThermoTop Z and includes some circuit information. https://xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/...start-kit.html A more complete discussion of the Webasto ThermoTop Z in our cars can be found here: - https://xseries-forum.com/forum/view...a9c68427d4535a Good luck.

hi
Sorry for the late reply.
So, today i followed your guide and jumped pin 1 (red/Yellow) with pin 1(white/green). Once jumped i waited for something to happen but nothing happened at all. I checked the voltage from Pin 1 (Red/Yellow) to ground and i was getting over 12V. I also checked the current flow once the cable was jumped and it was around 3.6A but no sign of life in the Webasto system. What else can i check on the unit ? Thanks |

Was it the additional pre-heater version or just the normal suplementary heater? (Aux heater on the screen option or only Aux ventilation?)
With ignition on remove the fuse or voltage supply connector for at least 20 seconds to reset the possible fault mode. If you want to investigate it properly INPA is the way to go. Besides codes INPA has good live data from Webasto.

I've learned not to assume anything. So the screen has also "Aux heating" option coded for pre-heating purposes, not just timers and "Aux vent."?
Did you try the fuse reset?

Then you don't have the pre-heating "Aux heater" option. That can be simply coded with for example NCS.
