E53 no start issue
I have run the diagnostics on my x5 2002 4.4i. I have Uploaded the report in an attachmbut the problem. Seems to be in the EWS module, however, there's no problem showing with the key, but there's no power going to the Starter. I wanted to see if I could get some input on what I can check Before I send this module off for repairs. Thanks so much for the help in advance.

The report uploaded is damaged. Can't see it here.
Could it be time for a starter? I would hold off on the expensive ews until I got more conclusive evidence. Sent from my TMAF035G using Tapatalk |

Is the EWS module accessible? Probe pins 1 & 2. They are the two large wires. One is constant power. The other goes to the starter. F11 should be checked too.

It also mentions no communication with the EGS which is the transmission module. It has to know it's in park before it will start. So it could be something with that.
It also mentions a short circuit from the LED alarm light. Which is overhead wiring, possible sunroof leak. I don't know if shorting that light out would cause no start but maybe, alarm, ews. Obviously a shorted wire needs fixed, that could burn the whole car down or cause hard to diagnose electrical issues in far off places with whatever else is on that circuit.

EWS will not prevent the starter from engaging, but if the module is not receiving power it may not be relaying the start signal to the DME. It will also not relay the start signal to the DME if another module it looks for data from (like transmission computer) is not working properly.
