Heated seat question
When I start my 01 4.4 in the morning and attempt to turn on the heated seat, the button lights flash and it won't switch on. After a few minutes it's OK and work properly.
Is this normal - ie it's checking power after starting or something? |

No i would pull codes and see what it says. Usually will report open ckt or short. What scanner do you have?
Try the other seat or the steering wheel if you have. On my X, the steering wheel heat will not turn on from a quick press i need to hold it but the seat heat i never use on high even though i programmed it to the lowest option so i double tap fast and that one works every time. If you double tap to get medium, will it do the same? Also: is engine m already running? (Not trying to engage at the same time)? (Not likely but I've noticed a lot of things don't operate through a start such as rolling up windows). –awr– Using Tapatalk VIP on iPhone

I've only a basic bmw scanner but I'll try it. Normally I would jump in the car, fire it up then tun on the seat heater but always click it down to the lowest setting or it burns my right thigh.. Recently I've done the usual but it's been flashing until a minute or so after the motor has been running.

Three burn right thigh issue is from a high resistance in the heater it's a common problem.
Itt may show up in the errors as long as your "bmw" scanner actually is then you can access the modules and see the codes. It's common when the heater haven't completely failed to be intermittent. For example it likely is higher resistance than spec allows but after the cabin warms up a little if might be ok or just the attempted start pre heats the heater so the following start the resistance passes the start test. –awr– Using Tapatalk VIP on iPhone

The plot thickenes... Yesterday it was freezing cold here in the morning and a few minutes after starting I got an airbag light come on and 'check brake fluid' bong. I ran about for 10 miles or so and the next time I started up the light was off and no warning. Could be the battery although it always starts OK and I do leave it on a ctek from time to time.

Wife's airbag module did not like cold ambient temp. Would get airbag light until cabin warmed up and restart car.
