Update: The first ordered aluminum cover was returned at pick up due to damage. Glad it didn't even ship to me. Waited for a refund. Ordered a second cover.
Niayko Aluminum Engine Valve Cover with Gasket Oil Cap Replacement# 11127512839

Why? Check the review and video. A BMW driver took some time to do a good review. I'll take a chance and check out the same one. I'll do a thorough check on it. Due to the holidays and shipping, I probably won't get to it until NYD. Or late next week sometime. I'll take pictures to post. For now, the X5 parked until I can replace the cover and gasket.

I think you just paid extra for the review of which there are only 3 and I just started with reading the first one where the guy says don't forget to prime the valve cover or your engine will scream at you! Yikes!
I went with the Mitzone one.

Valve cover tips?

VC doesn't interrupt oil circuit, so that example of prime isn't the cause of that guy's noisy first start. It does look good though metal vs. plastic VC. It wasn't clear if that one included the gasket. It mentioned gasket but sounded like it was for the oil fill cap.

A Mitzone was shipped damaged. Glad Amazon returned it before it shipped to me. Ha, it's probably the reviewer's first VCG. Aluminum will sound differently from plastic. The vanity cover was probably not on it either. I have a gasket set if needed.

Interesting name though.

All those metal covers come from the same factory in China. The only difference is the name they stick on the Amazon ad.

Taiwan makes them for $300. ECS tuning.
A good solid piece may be workable. I don't mind testing it out for the site and experience. Kinda late to do a N54 conversion on mine. A complete CCV was done with a cold climate kit.

Tool sale purchase! Bought a small flex head 1/4" drive ratchet. I can use these to bolt down the aluminum valve cover. I used a cordless ratchet once on a coil pack 10mm bolt. Snapped it right off. PIA to extract and fix.

X5 down until the second week of '25.

Hey, does anyone know the diameter of the "LIO" cap gasket?

Do you mean the "710" gasket, or the 11127526447 gasket?

Yeah, I couldn't even remember the "blonde" joke!

Ha, I hadn't searched Amazon.

Hey, can anyone laser cut a paper gasket to the same size?

Just remember to say "click" when the screw bottoms out so you know it's tight!
