Multi funtion buttons

Does anyone know of a mod for the multifuntion buttons on the steering wheel? I can't figure out why the R/T and the "talk" button are there since the BMW phone is an overpriced dealer installed option. I think those buttons should come with that option not just sitting there useless. What I would like is full control over the audio system from the steering wheel. The "talk" button is a great location for a power button and the R/T button could be a mode button so you don't have to touch the head unit to switch to the radio, changer or indash disc...what do you guys think or know?

It's all i-bus command and control. The information and technology is all in the public domain for someone to design and develop such a module. It's all about supply and demand.
