Ignition Switch

Do you have tp program the Ignition Switch once replaced? If so, how do you go about doing so? Which program do you use?
Thanks

Is there a difference between the 3.0 and the 4.4/6/8?

The part looks different.

I have a 4.8is

Where are you getting that from ??

Interesting, the 4.8 one has a white cover. Rock auto has the Standard Automotive switch with the white cover listed for both though. Maybe someone with a 4.8 could chime in. Just order the one for your car.

Unlikely to need programming. I opened up my old one when I replaced it. Nothing but contacts in it, no chips.

I replaced my ignition switch. No programming needed.

The key cylinder is paired to the EWS and the DME. The switch thankfully it's just attached to the back end and can be swapped without coding.

Does anyone know what the difference in the switches is ? It's probably something internal only which is why the cover is a different color and it looks like they are maybe interchangeable at least in one direction ??

Ahh, I think the V8s have "turn and let go" to start, maybe that or maybe heavier contacts ??

On wiring diagram check components, S2 Ignition switch. There you can see which contacts are used and how they are connected on different versions.

Thanks for that Clav That's really cool to have the WDS on line! Looks like it's the same switch as far as the contacts on the wiring diagrams go.
