Some sensors will report a nonsense number when not powered. Did it used to stay the actual value and changed or you never saw in the past?

How do I access that on the cluster?

EDIT:

No oil temp value found when using my OBD-II scan tool, only engine water temp at the block and at the radiator.

Average at the block is 101.2°C when moving and 102.7°C while stationary.
At the radiator is ambient temp until warmed up which seems about 50-60°C
Gotcha, I havent checked those with a scanner yet, but good to see a reference. Thanks for the followup!

This was at the end of the 20 min drive so you can see my oil and water temp needle positions.

Search hidden menu e53. YouTube video is a good way to see the process.

Andrew, I never noticed. I've mostly monitored ktemp and battery voltage, and fuel level when I had float problems. For those cluster tests, I am 100% sure they show appropriate values running and in any ignition key position.

Homer, thanks for additional pics. Oil temp by the analog pointer will probably show 95c when you access the cluster digital display.

Those oil temp numbers are crazy to me. N55 motor runs 110. Coolant from 92 to 109 depending on demand.

As Andrew replied it' easier to watch the video than explaining it I think.

First get the last 5 digits of your VIN and add them to get the total.

Then long press the right cluster button.

Press it again, it will show "locked"

Input the total number value of your VIN with thebleft cluster button, then press the right cluster button.

The tests numbers will now show values instead of "locked".
