strange electrical issues

I have a buddy with a 2000 X5 with some odd issues. Each time you start the car, the hazards come on, pushing the hazard switch turns them off (I replaced this switch with a new BMW part). The interior lights then stay on until you push the main switch on the overhead console to turn them off. When you lock the car with the key, you have to lock and unlock twice for the car to actually lock itself however the dome lights then still stay on and will drain the battery overnight.

Does this sound like a general module or LCM issue?

First rule out the ignition switch.

Open the visor and open the mirror to turn on the light. If anything strange happens including air bag light change, rear wiper odd behavior. Also dsc issues. There are a dozen symptoms.

I'll try that out! I remember my E39 M5's steering wheel moving up when you'd open the sun visor mirror when the ignition switch went bad.
