need to change my steering wheel

Hi all
I am looking for a smaller and fatter wheel.
Is there any out there that will fit with little
modification.
I am not fussy about functions on the wheel.

Thank you.

X5chemist will become famous soon enough
Big hands like me? I used a leather wrap on mine. Hid the old worn steering wheel.

E39 M5 wheel is pretty awesome in my e53. Plug and play.

I bought mine from some guy in Eastern Europe who refurbishes them very nicely. A much nicer feel. I did a write up on the overland thread.

I recall I had to buy a used airbag on eBay as the steering g wheel guy couldn’t ship one.

What year do you have?

IIRC the post facelift sport wheels are thicker than the pre facelift ones.

My 3.0 is a sport but in storage and havent driven it in a looooong while, which is why I'm going off memory here.

Mine is a 2002 4.4.

Just got sight of those old OE seats in the pic I attached. My back hurts again just looking at them. The seat rebuild and upgrade was one of the better things I did to that car!

Did you check the sticker on the back side of the airbag so it was not one which should have been renewed in a recall?

They do look a bit spartan, never experienced anything but the sport seats.

I wonder how the comfort seats feel like? Those look like big 'ole La-Z-Boys!

I did do that, thanks to you if I recall correctly. Made the ebay seller send me a pic of the back to ensure it wasn't a recalled airbag. first seller was trying to pawn one off on me, but the second guy I found had a newer/non-recalled bag.

Regarding the seats, my 2002 had the stock comfort seats in them and they were awful after 20+ years of driving. I bought a set of post LCI seats off a guy on the forum here who was swapping his interior out and had them completely rehabbed at a local upholstery shop. Fortunately brand new foam for the bottoms were still available from BMW too. Not a lot of side bolstering compared to sport seats, but he added some additional strategic padding into the bottoms and back and they are really comfortable, especially for longer drives. I tend to like a bit of a softer seat for longer driving. My wife's 2025 x5 has somewhat softer seats in it, but are still a bit firm for me on longer trips.

As a bonus they also have heat, which my X5 was prewired for fortunately, and are auto-adjustable in the upper back and headrest. Neither of which my old seats had.
