Wish I'd known about this guy before I moved out of N GA to KY...

Since you have an E39, what might be some things to watch out for? Currently looking at a 2002 M54 530i. I sold my F30 last week.

- Find a rust-free car from a state that doesn’t use salt on the roads
- but look out for failed clearcoat on rust- free cars
- run a carfax, which I do for $6 ea thru a guy on Facebook
- manuals are great, but usually a little pricier than autos
- they swap well, and easily, from auto to manual..I’ve done one.
- I would avoid TU engines from ‘99 & ‘00…and I own one!
- after the above, it’s all about catching up on maintenance.. it would be nice to find a car that had the oil pan gasket changed and other oil leaks addressed.
- I think a black interior ages better than tan or beige.

Thanks! Good to know... I've pretty much given up on the big auction sites where crap goes for stupid money. Guess I'll be haunting craigslist or autotrader for a while. I don't have a Facebook account and don't want one.

Always good to have a backup ride when yours is 25 years old...

That is a gorgeous color. Came across a 4.8is in the boneyard last year in that blue, with blue interior trim and checkered fabric on the door cards.

Too bad it was beat to shit...
