Help!!!

So I just got my X back from the body shop and it looks great... Only one problem, SERVICE ENGINE SOON light was on, so I went to Auto Zone to utilize their OBD II, turns out their was 23 codes that popped up. So I ask her if I can press the reset button and she says "No it is a liability issue, and I was like "Well I wont say shit if you dont, besides there isnt a damn thing wrong with my car it just got outta the shop, they probably didn't clear it" and she is like "well I am the manager yadda yadda yadda" So I go to Napa and they dont even have one, but the guy was like "just disconnect your battery on the negative side for 15 minutes"..... So my question is.. Will that work?????

Brumann -

Disconnecting your battery won't remove the service light. Whatever condition is triggering the service light will still be present after you reconnect the battery cable. You'll need access to an OBDII scanner to erase the codes.

Regards, Mike

Thanks guys!! Appreciate it! I guess I am going to go buy one, and then try and return it. Normally I would just have BMW do it, but it is 1.5 hours away and honestly I don't have time to trek down there and back before I leave country... Thanks again... OUT!

Why don't you take it back to the dealership and have them investigate the issue? Maybe there IS something wrong with your X? Would it not be better to be sure rather than resetting the warning lights?

In any case, good luck!

Juan

I have an appointment tomorrow at 1 pm to get it looked at. They knew my situation prior to my phone call about me deploying Thursday, so they hooked up me and got me in...
