control switches

Howdy

Since I am still have the mod bug with me, I am thinking of adding PDC to my 03 X5. Currently, on my row of control switch, I only have 3 buttons for HillDecentControl (icon with car going downslope), DSC & rear hatch release.

Based upon research of various articles (including those from X5world), it appears that retrofitting the PDC is a possibility but the switch row that comes along with the kit has alot more buttons. Those buttons also include PDC, RDC and two front seat heaters in addition to the ones I have now.

For you kind folks of the X5 world, are you aware of a switch row that ONLY has 4 buttons --- HillDecentControl, DSC, rear hatch release AND PDC. I have checked multiple sources including my dealership and realoem, so far only found 61318373740 and this part number is for a switch set that has complete 7 buttons.

Any help here??? Anyone know of such a switch set (part number PLEASE) that only provides buttons for HDC, DSC, rear hatch release and PDC. Don't want to have any extra buttons and do not intent to put caps to hid the extra buttons.

Thanks in advance

Not aware of one. You need to buy the one with the extra buttons

According to my wife, my mod bug has been around for WAY TOO LONG.

I have no plan to add heated seats and definitely not the tire pressure sensors --- thus I don't really want those buttons.

What I don't understand is that BMW seems to have X5s with various 'unique' configurations and thus switches with only certain buttons when they sell their cars. Why aren't those switches available as parts?

Example, I asked my dealer that if my car was broken into or I had an accident whereby my switch had to be replaced, can they order a like for like (3 button) switch? According to him, he can't. That I don't understand. I was wondering whether he was just blowing me off.

Am I really screwed here? any help?

No, I was not thinking of saving a few bucks over some buttons.

I am a PITA when it comes to having functional items. If I have 4 buttons, I have 4 features and if 7, 7 additional functions.

In this case, I don't plan to retro heater warmers or tire pressure sensors, I was hoping not to have buttons for them.

I have the voice activation on my steering and guess what, I have the BT kit installed. IN fact, my wife enjoys that BT mod.

I know, this is probably too anal for others but I hope that I can get such a switch row....if it is available.

The one saving grace is that it does come with blank button covers, which at least minimizes the visual lack of usefullness of the non-functional buttons.

I would have those extra unused buttons with PDC than having no extra buttons and no PDC at all, imo
