That cable won't work on your X5. The ODBII connector is rectangular, like this:

I may be wrong, but I believe the carsoft requires the cable in your picture. BMW doesn't use the OBDII connector for diagnosis- the connector is round, and located under the hood. Carsoft is not a simple scan tool software- it allows changes to the background info inside the ECM.

The round connector was only on early X5s. Late 2000 & 2001 on were the regular OBDII 15 pin connector. The round connector is under the hood. The other behind a cover under the dash.

OK ,i just look at my car and it's 15 pin odb under the steering. Thanks for helping. Now i can find dealer that sold the cable in thailand.
