V1 on its way, YAY!!!!!

Just order a V1. Although I don't plan on speeding it will be nice to have piece of mind when I go on long trips. Any one else have it on their X? How hard is it to hard-wire it?

Congrats!
You will love your V1! I've had mine for 4 years now, and it surely gives me a piece of mind. Hard-wiring is very easy. Just follow instructions in this article - http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/e...-hardwire.html . It won't take you more than 20 minutes.

You'll LOVE it!
I did 2 7+hr straight-shots (1 stop for gas/way!) and the confidence the V1 gave me was total- it didn't fail. Caught 4 speed traps with plenty of time, like 1 full minute (roughly 2 miles at my speed) to "adjust speed", even around bends both coming and behind.

The only thing you'll want to do fresh out the box is test out the different Modes: AllBogey, logic (reduces city-common false alarms), and UltraLogic (advanced screening that ices all-area common false alarms.) In the SF Bay (relatively dense resid/commercial), I had way too many auto-doors in shops setting it off. So at least here, logic mode works well for city-driving, and Ultra Logic mode works well for freeway driving between cities.

Hope this helps- Oh, the V1 hardwire took me about 20 mins too, maybe 25 including packing tools back up. It's very simple, and Valentine's manual is perfectly clear, with a kit for the install included. Plus that article is spot-on for a specific install to the HomeLink. Makes it straight-up, start to finish (just read that note at the end FIRST).
The V1's a chunk of change ($399), but 2 speeding tix (while I was using some Whistler or Cobra detector) cost me $515 total a few years ago. Enjoy!

I want to hardwire mine as well, instructions look good, but how do you remove the buttons?, cloth covered screwdriver?

Sure - that'll work just fine. Just be gentle - it's really quite easy. Oh, and I certainly agree with the S1 suggestion - compliments the V1 very nicely - love mine... GL & let us know how you make out!

Has anyone successfully programmed the V1 to automute in K-band? I tried to set it to automute after 3 seconds, but no cigars
