Anyone here ever experienced any problems with their X5 shutting of after a minute or so with no warning or maybe just some noise like it was about to stall but doesn't??? Well, it happened to me!!! Last week Sunday I was parked I turned the X on and after about 30 seconds the x made a stalling sound and it shut off, then yesterday I was adjusting the headlights with the car on obviously, and after about 2 minutes it made the same stalling sound, then it reved up like and continued to run. I'm gonna make an appointment at the dealer I just hope it's nothing major cause I love my X and I'd hate to start having problems with it. If anyone heard of this or had it happened, or just has an idea of what it may be or advice I'd appreciated. Thanks in advance to all who post!!!
P.S. - Is a 2005 4.8 with 3,700 miles!!! |

That definately doesn't sound normal. Is the problem occurring regularly or intermitently? If it's intermitent then the dealer may have a harder time diagnosing the problem.

i kind of have the same problem. But mine has never stalled. Everyonce in a while my X5 will sound like its gonaa staul out and the idle gets rough but then it goes away and its fine.

Just a wild guess - sounds like a fuel pump or some kind of a fuel delivery problem...

it's not a software problem. All cars do that if the current draw at idle is greater than what is needed to power the accessories.... idle will go up and come back down to normal.
