Sirius Retro Fit

I would like to put Sirius into my '02 and hopefully still be able to integrate it into my stereo. I have read Nate's great post on the main page and it seems like it can be done. However the pictures seem to be gone. I dont suppose anyone knows if you can see those pictures somewhere else or know of a website with detailed instructions such as his? Thanks in advance!

the 1st thing needed to do the retro-fit is a newer
radio module. once u get the radio module, it's
pretty much plug and play.

does ur X have NAV?

I was able to stuff in an OEM sirus receiver on my 05 X on rear left compartment without following through surgical procedure in spare tire area. It was all pre-wired so I didn't even have to use extra cables I have purchased. It worked flawlessly even with aux input intact. I put the small antenna in the rear-spoiler with a large piece of metal and the reception of the the signal is mismal. It still works though.
I don't know if you need to change your radio receiver unit or not. You might have to check the serial number of that.
Good luck.

Unfortunately, the 02 isn't compatible. What is the production date of your X5 and are you equipped with Business CD or Navigation?

I've been reading some posts on the E60 forum and few people say Sirius is good. Is HD radio possible and avaliable?

We're working hard on this with DICE. It's coming soon for the X5.

Mine was made in August, its got the Business CD and no nav. However I looked up the serial number and it is unfortunatly pre-50 so I guess I have to switch out the radio/Cd player. Seems like it might be more money than I was hoping to spend now.

I was told my 2006 was not available with Sirus because it wasn't ordered with a prep kit?

Serial number has nothing to do with compatibility, only the software version does. Are you referring to 08/02 for the Software version?

The Software version will be in a "SV XX-XX XX" format, the last 2 digits need to be 50 or higher.

100% not true. A "prep kit" doesn't exist for the X5 since it uses the CD Changer wiring. This would be all you need:

Sirius Satellite Radio - e53 X5
