Wiring help for paddle shift steering wheel

I have searched through all of the threads and can not find any detailed wiring help for this mod.

I have just purchased an M3 steering wheel with paddle shifters to fit to my 2005 X5 Sports. Does anyone have specific details re the wiring to make the paddle shifters work? Is there anywhere I can buy the wiring connectors from?

I have emailed a company who specialises in this bmw-paddleshift-retro or something like that. They want to charge $500 or so for a kit.

I thought all I needed was the steering wheel, hub, airbag and wiring connectors?? It's the wiring connectors I need help with.

I know that pepatrick did this mod on his X. You might try PMing him. He is frequently out of town on business, so don't expect a real speedy response, because he may not have much time to log in here.

From the article it would appear you need a new clock-spring to do this. Best to find out for sure before you take it all apart.
I had to get one when I did the heated wheel retro. A real pain to take it apart twice but it was the only way to find out if I really needed one!

Clock-spring?? What's one of those? Where in the article does it mention that - are we looking at the same article?

I have one if you want I can give it to you just pay the shipping.I just did it and modified the wiring it's basically plug to the shifter and to the hub.
