lowering question

I noticed on www.bmwusa.com that the 4.8is is actully lowered 1.5", at least according to the ground clearance between the 4.4 and 4.8 of 8.0" and 6.5", respectively. I'm assuming that the shocks and struts are tuned to compensate for this lower ride, as well as the self-leveling rear-suspension. My question then, is suppose I get some 1.5" lowering springs, from tirerack, for instance. Especially due to the self-leveling rear suspension, wouldn't this have an ADVERSE affect on the car? Anyway I'm not *SERIOUSLY* (necessarily) considering doing this, but I thought I'd inquire. I'm going to peruse these boards now to see what else I can find, but thanks for any heads up in the meantime!

There are a few threads regarding this. The Eibachs seem to be the popular way to go to lower the 4.4. The stealer can lower the rear to balance it out. The 4.8 rides on air suspension all the way around.
