Painting door exterior door handles??

In order to paint the door handles, do I have to take the entire door handle off or does the black(unpainted) piece simply pop on/off w/o having to go through the hassle of completely removing the door handle?

You have to remove them completely, I would say. It's not that hard, I did it to replace my OEM door handles with Titanium Silver ones!!! Good luck!!!

HI Khelms,
I've been playing with painting the door handles, but since I'm not positive I'd like to change (right now I have body color-match), I'm doing my tests on a set of trim covers. The plastic ones are perfect for testing, but I don't think I'd install them (feel flimsy). There are chrome-plated steel covers that would likely be a better install, & they're $50 shipped. You can also get OEM handles in titanium or other colors, depending on what you're looking for, for $200-600 depending on the source.
I'm hesitant to paint my OEM handles in case I don't like the outcome (!). If you feel up to it, yes, full removal of door handles (which requires releasing them from inside the doors), then paint & re-install. Make sure it's a dry day & you don't need to be anywhere! Start early & all coats could be done in a day. Make sure to get a good quality top coat on there, so you don't get any chipping any time soon.
Good Luck!
M
