aFe intake install pix on 2001 4.4

Hey everyone,

As promsied, here's the few installation pix of the intake. There's only 4 pix because, well, there's really not much to show lol ... it's a very easy, straightforward installation.

Obviously, please write me if you have any questions.

As you can see, I've simply left that little tube that used to be plugged into the lower-half of the airbox just dangling loosely. Because it's a relatively rigid hose, it's remaining in a vertical position and not interfering with anything. I suppose I could just remove it entirely but I'm leaving it in case i ever need to replace the stock box.

Did you notice any performance gain after the install, feel any real difference?

yes, i noticed a 47% increase in pride; a significantly stronger sound of laughter emanating from my giggling-like-a-schoolgirl self everytime i floored it as the new exhaust throbbed its baritone note echoing across the street; and greatly reduced fuel consumption from always flooring it

no but seriously, here's the thing: i really can't tell any difference lol ... however, i should note that i did *NOT* reset the ECU after installing it, so the car will need about 50 miles to recalibrate itself. So ask me again around the end of the week ... i seriously hope i can tell SOME difference!!

So the 4.4's also have that tube?

I went to aFE to see if I could just use the 4.4 kit on the 4.6, but they saw that tube and said it wouldn't work????

You probably won't notice a lot in gain, but it would probably show up on a dyno. BMW's are known to be restrictive with the intake side of the engine.

I would like to know what the dangling hose us suppose to do.

Crosvs-

I'm glad to see you got the project done. If I remember right, didn't you bolt on a set of Remus pipes?

By the way - Go BRUINS!

YOu're at least insofar that i was CONSIDERING getting Remus pipes; but in the end I got lucky and just swapped with some guy who needed a stock setup; so i got his $1200 custom setup for $100. i posted vidclips on here if you haven't seen them yet ........

and i heard -- but unfortunateyl didn't see! -- that the UCLA game was super boring cuz we kicked so much ass it wasn't even a game lol
