Anyone have pictures of a Silver X5 with Running Boards?

I'm getting ready to order my Silver on Black 4.4 tomorrow! I plan to have the running boards installed before taking the SAV home in August.

Thanks,
Mike

Very nice! Thank you.

Are the Running Boards BMW OEM? How much did you pay? Installation?

Yes, they are OEM. I picked them up at Pacific BMW for approx. $500. I don't recall the installation cost, as I had some other mods done at the same time that the running boards were installed.

It's a DIY project, and many folks here have done it themselves. There's an excellent X5world article on running board installation.

Thank again!

I found the part# 51-71-0-017-315 on the PacificBMW webisite (I've ordered part from them in the past..), however the page states:

"High-tech fun, non-slip functionality. Not Compatible with the front and rear fender flares"

I assume that they are referring to the 4.8 X5...base on other posts.

One last question - Have you used them? I assume they are sturdy and work great...

I will be putting surf boards on and off the roof racks and I plan to use the running boards often..

I use them occasionally when I wash/wax the roof; however, I mostly use a stool. I tend to think of them as primarily cosmetic (as opposed to functional), but I may be wrong. They may stand up fine for your intended use, but I'm not sure. Others here will know.

If you're referring to the decorative front skid plate, there's a write-up here. $149 at Pacific BMW. It's not alloy, though. It's some sort of polyurethane-type material. (mtmnet: There's a few more pics at that link.)
