Universal Transceiver question

My X5 is already equipped with a universal transceiver (3 buttons), if I install a rear window mirror (with compass and universal transceiver) which also has 3 buttons, can I program them differently and thus have 6 separate and completely independent buttons?

Do you have a picture of this part? I have not heard of a BMW X5 rear view mirror that has the homelink buttons on it.

These are the mirrors for the 5, and 6-series.

Not just for 5 or 6 series

Attached is a photo of the part from the ETK showing it's availability for an X5. I've also included a picture from an X5 catalogue. I just want to know if it will work in conjunction with a transceiver mounted above.

wow, that would definitely be interesting if you get it to work.

Learn something new everyday. It should work in conjunction with the standard transceiver.
But that's an expensive mod.

Almost $300 bucks more than what I paid for just the AutoDimming Compass mirror...and only to get 3 extra universal buttons? For that amount of money, I'm clipping my garage door opener(s) on the sun visor like everyone else

I've actually performed this modification on my 1998 318ti...I wired it up so the Universal Homelink, alarm LED AND the self-dimming rearview mirror work...However, the self-dimming is a moot-point as I had my tinting done way too dark and it barely lets any kind of light in to begin with
