Once you go X, you've never looked back..

I spent so much time driving around this past weekend in my wife's X. When I started the front car on Monday, it hesitate like a jealously girlfriend.

Anyhow, just want to say that the X in the only car you really need in one household. It replaces everything I have driven, daily driver anyway..

I disagree. I easily went from a 2002 X5 4.4i to a 2004 ML500. And I'm not looking back. For me, the ML satisfies what is important to me much better than the X5 did.

This is in several aspects - ride quality, cargo space, sound system, price, interior space, performance and some other lesser aspects.

You are 100% right. I am lucky enough to be able to afford several cars at once but, If I could only afford one it would hands down be a 4.8 X5. It really is all you need. It gives you just enough of everything that any other car could give you. AWD, Handles like a sports sedan, Takes off like a sports car. Vesatility of a SUV, and look and sounds bad ass.

By the way nice M3. I like the CSL wheels you put on. I was thinking of getting those too. But i am selling it now to make room for the V8 M3 so i decided against it.

The ML may be better than the X5 in something mainly softer more plush ride. But the ML500 in no way will ever out perform a X5 4.4 of the same year in any performance competion ever period. Remember now your 4.4 had 282 hp the 2004 has 315hp and a 6 speed big difference. Accelerates close to a 4.6

IMO the ML looks like poo. My neighbor has one and side by side it looks nasty compared to the Bimmer. Even the owner has said that.

I definitely think the X is hard to beat as an all around vehicle, much more so since the time I shoved 8 18" tires in the car and 4 18" rims all at the same time!! That's truck like space there.

almost looks like that small Cadillac SUV.

Don't get me wrong. I am sure ML500 is a great car, even more so with ML55. However, I prefer X5 over ML in term of handling. This is my first SAV and it is just happened to be this one. To each his own, right?

Thanks..CSL wheel came with M3. It is '05 Competition, mine, and the X is wifey. I would have gotten 4.8is if I knew how good it is. M3 was purchase new but X is CPO '05, couldn't afford a brand new one.

Ian, my suspicion is that a continual routine of pro MB/anti-X posts here,
will not do much to win friends or influence anyone.

Everyone is entitled to their opin...but, you come across as a homer.

I like MBs, I like Xs, I like Peppers; I try to avoid suggesting that my new gizmo/brand is great
and "yours" sucks.

But, to each their own...

Maybe you got too close to the water that you don't like?
Just my 2Cts.

I agree. I do like Mercedes, however, just not the ML styling.... the X is WAY more attractive/sleek looking.
