A/C Heater Blowing Very Hot Air

Hey everyone. I just recently registered to xoutpost.com but I've been lurking around here for months. I think the site is great. It's helped me fix multiple problems on my 01 x5 4.4i and conduct basic maintenance.

For a couple months now, whenever I set the A/C on defrost or I set the controls to hot (the three red dots not the degrees) the A/C will blow out extremely hot air REGARDLESS of what degree I have it set to. It is the same sort of hot air at any degree. There isn't any real go-between; the A/C will go from very cold to cold to slighty warm to VERY hot. I checked out the Final Stage Resistor DIY and was wondering if this was for me or if anyone else has any insight on this problem. Thanks for any help.
