Unhappy Rough on idle

My 3.0 diesel X5 has done almost 5000 from new and was run in as advised on this forum - first 1000 miles not to exceed 3000rpm, next 1000 miles not to exceed 3500rpm, then next 1000 miles not to exceed 4000rpm, then foot down all the way!!!!!

I have just started to notice that the engine appears very rough (to the extent where the car jolts) when the engine is cold. It is like this for the first 5 minutes or so of driving. Almost like the engine is miss-firing.

Has anyone else noticed this. I'll obviously book it in at the $tealers sometime next week - it is still under manufactures warranty. Can any damage be caused by me driving it in the mean time, however?

I also notice that the idle rate is fairly low - 500-600 rpm - is this normal?

Thanks,

Dave
