rim and tire warranty ?

i bought an extended rim and tire warranty from the dealership when i bought my car so does that mean if i get new bmw rims, they won't be covered on it since they werent the ones they originally came with ?

I would say 'no' new rims & tires would not be covered. To me it would be like you bolting a AA supercharger on the X and blowing a cylinder and expecting BMW to cover the engine rebuild under the original warranty. The original product has changed.

But best bet is to ask the dealer directly.

Never heard of a warranty for rims and tires. What does it cover? blown tire? curb rash?

It covers against unrepairable damages to the tire. ie: get your tires slashed on the side walls, would get covered; rims get bent, would get covered.

I also got the same thing on mine the sales person told me as long as they are OEM they will be covered, only aftermarket rims void the warranty (for aftermarket: only if they were on the car when you bought it and signed the agreement thus it will be specified on the contract).

Why not ask/clarify with the dealer directly to avoid any confusion and headaches down the road when indeed you need to file a damage claim.

IMHO, with this type of thing it's always best to have it on paper so you're properly covered.
