Help????

Hey Guys... Today my wife pulled in the garage in the truck and the oil light popped on for a second she killed the truck.. I went somewhere in it tonight and it never came on ... I checked the oil and it is at the first cut on the stick... I just had it changed at 40,000 mi it now has 49,000 mi on it.. It still has 2 green bars left.. Am i ok on oil? I dont understand why the light came on if it wasnt low low..

Also do your front windows go up slower than the rear.. i have had both rear's replaced but front are the original..

Thanks

9 thousand miles on a qt?!

Send that stat off to BMWNA: it may be a record!

Not 2nd guessing, but its really only 1 or 2 things:
oil sensor is glitching, (do search; several threads),
or you really are down a couple of qts.

Or, just a glitch.

I don't know of many BMWs that don't eat a couple
qts in 9K miles.

The green bars are simply an indicator of "use"
before next oil/maint. The bars have nothing to
do with current oil volume in motor.

Crack that book in the glove box, too:

I think the manual states if you see the oil light come on after shut off, then as soon as you can add oil. If the light comes on and stays on, it says to pull over immediately, shut it off, and call for a tow.

Mine has done this occasionally about the same time frame (one or two green lights still on)
