Engine oil too much?
These may be silly questions. I do need your advice.
I bought my X5 4.4i (yr 2000) 1 month ago in HK and had the engine oil changed 2 weeks ago. The garage engineer recommended me to use a SAE 5W-40 synthetic type(probably not Castrol), 8 litres were used and that is recommended by the owner manual.
The engine runs fine. But one day when I took out the engine oil stick, 5 minutes after stopping the engine (did it several times to confirm), the oil mark is slightly higher than the "max" mark, (about 5-7mm higher).
Does this indicate too much engine oil has been added? would it damage the engine ? Shall I immediately change the engine oil to the "correct" amount of
Castrol SAE 0W-40 oil?
