"Turn Signal Delete" mod... (?)

From what I hear, there's a fairly DIY way to rewire the lights so that the orange side marker lights don't come on with the angel eyes (switch position 1), or even the headlights (switch position 2)... but they still function as turn signals. Anyone heard of this mod, or done it to their X5?

I haven't been able to find any info on it, but I'm definitely interested.

I've seen this done on E46's many times. I know it can be done on X5's however I don't have the specific procedures.

That is exactly how european X5 are wired from the factory, only the AE come on as the side lights , much nicer than the egg yolk glow.

Haven't looked at the bulbs, but perhaps you can put a resistor in place of the running light element and leave the blinker element as is? Just a guess...
