My 4.4 stalled yesterday for no reason

I started my X5 yesterday and left it in park idling for about a minute while i made a phone call and halfway through my call it just stauled out. totally died. So i restarted it and started driving and hasnt had a problem since then. No lights came on. Does anyone know what this problem is or what caused it to just die like that. Now since then its running perfect again no problems at all. Very weird. First time its happend. I have an 04 with 17k on it.

Don't you mean it STALLED ? I don't think STAULED is the correct spelling.

Thank goodness I didn't take this lease over!!

I had this happen once with my X about a year ago. I had switched the high beam bulbs out, turned the car on and made sure they worked then I left it running and went in the garage, next thing I know it stalled. Never happened again.

Cool

Had the same thing happen last summer with my '05 4.4. I was detailing it all day and left the radio on the entire time. Started the car and left it running for about a half hour to recharge the battery. Then went to a nearby gas station to fill it up. Of course I turned off the ignition while gassing. As I was pulling out of the station and onto a busy street - it stalled on me. It started right up and never happened again. I chalk it up to a low battery but I could be wrong.

Good luck diagnosing it. My brother certifies auto techs and tells me diagnosing a stalling car even with today’s computer and sensors can be difficult if a fault doesn’t get trapped.

I hope you realize these are common X5 problems and most likely you will be experiencing them from new with yours just as I have and almost everyone else here. Some are better than others but none are perfect. Cant wait till you get yours and you will know what im talking about.

As far as the Spelling so what i dont waste time spell checking because its a forum where no one cares unless they are anal like you. But if spelling bothers you that much you have a lot more free time than I do. but as far as education I seriously dont think yours exceeds mine.
P.S. Why would I use spell check for when you can just do it for me?
