Hood being re-painted this week

2002 X5 had the paint wearing to primer on the SIDe of the hood. Couldn't see it really unless you looked into the space between the hood and front fender, but a flaw to be fixed under warranty nonetheless. Desimone BMW in Marlton, NJ agreed to re-paint the hood for me since the car is still under warranty. Very happy it will be the whole hood since i have some chips along the front that should be taken care of with the re-paint!

No loaner cars from this dealership so they rented me a Toyota Camry. Pretty solid, but no BMW!

That's pretty much exactly it, except mine was closer to the front of the hood.....are you under warranty still? I am...not sure they'd do anything if I wasn't.

Actually, I took a closer peek at my doors as I have a spring detailing session that keeps on getting put off and my one of my door edges is exhibiting the same issues....

Hmm, not sure but I'm going to sleep on it.
Pros/Cons on repaint IMO for a door.

Hood, that is no brainer but I hate having cars with non-matching orangepeel, etc.

Well if the dealer takes care of it, they'll make sure it is done properly as they don't want to keep paying until it looks better. I will be taking mine in as well as the hood and some doors are showing signs of paint wear. Something BMW should pick up on when you take your car in for service, regardless I will get mine fixed up as well.
GL if you are getting it done and if it is free then you are good to go

My 2002 had the same issue which the dealer fixed by repainting about 1 year ago. No problems since. I was lucky. They had a 2005 X5 4.4i loaner that I used for a week.

Im guessing your ride is a cpo?
Going to look at mine tonight, The front is in rough shape from rock chips so this would be nice to get that fixexd.

Nope! Bought mine about 2 years ago from a local Lexus dealership...not a CPO BMW. Was looking for an X5 and stumbled upon exactly what i was looking for at the Lexus dealer down the highway from the BMW dealer.

But car is still under factory warranty until august so it doesn't have anything to do with being CPO or not.

Today is day 8 and still counting! They said it would be ready in 5 days. Caled yesterday and they said it should be done today. A week in a rental Toyota Camry is just getting old!

Hope it turned out nice....color matches, no orange peeling, etc.
