Just got in from my week's business trip to Carolina's. Basically this meant to go see my regional sales manager and his key accounts in region.
I had planned personally to go to the plant for a tour and told my guy this. He secretly from me had worked with our local dealer who does business with BMW and their exec's and arranged some pleasant surprises which would make it a week to remember for me! They surprised me the first morning with a semi private tour of the plant arranged by one of BMW's VP's, whom the dealer had sold a Hot Tub to, ( my business, a VP of a manufacturer of Hot tubs). My dealer also takes care of the Zentrum fountains service and The Cliffs pools and hot tubs. BTW great dealer. It turns out they (BMW exec's in SC) love my company's product and are buying quite a few of them. The tour was great, just a couple Germans and us, with a BMW engineer rather then tour guide. We saw some stuff as we broke off from the group others ( public tour) didnt/wouldnt see, I figure. Got to go to the place (BMW driving experience)out back with track and stuff, though we had no opportunity to drive anything, just to be allowed to be escorted through the ground and see track and cars on track. I plan on seeing about going back to drive the crap out of a 4.4 like like I own sometime soon. Then as we leave the tour we get handed the second surprise, Clubhouse pass's to the week's BMW N.A PGA Pro Am at "The Cliffs" located in God's country north of the plant in the mountains. I only wish I had my X5 rather then the crappy Lincoln we rented from Hertz. We were greeted with passes, food, hats, and access to 18th hole BMW private grand stand and watched golfers like Gretsky, Alice Cooper, Gary Player, K. Costner and others play through 18th while drinking german beers, also got to sit in lots of 4.8's etc on grounds. All in all an enjoyable hard week's work! NOT. Time to bring out my X5 for the season and start my mod's!! Couldnt be more excited. If you never read my intro post to this board, I only drive my X5 in summers from May til Oct.
