It's kind of like adding MD after your name (assuming your not one). A 4.8 is already a very fine machine.

I would just add the M colors! I been looking for a while for just the colors but it's always attached to the M!

The 4.6is and the 4.8is is the closet X that BMW made to a ///M version. The true designation is 4.6(8)is X5(M). So with that being said, I don't understand why we always have the to badge or not to badge debates. I wanted to just use the colors as someone stated above, but cutting them of the M proved to be useless. So I am one that has an ///M on my X. I've owned a Stage 3 Dinan///M3 and a 4.4i, I don't think the idea is to fool anyone. The only reason I did it was because of the designation BMW gave the X. Consider the old 325ti's. Some of them had ///M badging but were not total ///M cars. They had a few ///M components. I think it would be deceptive if there was a true ///M from the factory and you took a 3.0 and added ///M badging to it. That's my 2 pennies.............Phil

the engine from what i read is an alpina design. not sure if thats true.
LemansX5: The current 4.8 engine was designed by Alpina from their B10 V8S engine. The blue prints were handed out to BMW for mass production. Looks like i can put the ALPINA badge back on the X Last edited by f355b; 05-22-2006 at 11:47 AM. |
