I wonder if this thing is quick or not.. Could be a sleeper. The badge is pretty funny though.

Regarding the M badge, as fitting as it is to that body, unless it goes like a new X5 M, I wouldn't badge it as one. I think 550hp or close to that is the number to get to, to earn the ///M badge. Someone should be making a twin turbo kit for this engine by now. After my body work is done, I'll more seriously look into upgrading the power on my SAV.

My 06 X5 and 95 M3

OK, I'll join in.

The X5 is nearly stock and will stay that way - He's an 06 6 speed stick with only 34K miles (family hauling & client meeting vehicle). His name is Rolf.

The M3 has hardly any stock parts left - she's all modded, fast, nasty and so much fun you can't stop grinning the whole time you're in her Her name is Gretchen.

Don't know why people love adding M badges.
The worst are those ugly M grills.
Heck on my old e36 M3 I actually removed the badges
for a cleaner look.

I agree.

But what I don't understand is, making a non //M car look like an //M or install a //M badge on a X5 to let people beleive it is a //M is wrong, but making a 3.0 or 4.4 look like a 'is' is ok?

In the Community of the e53's ....from what i see here..we are accepted to do this since we are changing the looks of e53 to make it more aggressive look therefore it is welcomed, Owner's that had bought their sav's like a 3.0, 4.4i maybe it was a budget, fuel cost, price, commuter decision then when the 4.6is(2000-2003), 4.8is came out (2004-2006) BMW Allowed these owners (including me) to retrofit our Sav's to 4.8is because they allowed it to be by using same body style as the older e53 going all the way to year 2000 and gave Us the option of upgrading the looks exterior wise. BMW allows it...although we do not accept putting an M badge on a E53 x5(2000-2006) due to e53's Never had an M car so I'm guessing thats why....

As long as u dont put the 4.8is badge on ur 3.0 i see
Nothing wrong with making it look more sportier by adding
Some 4.6/4.8i sport parts and keeping a more oem look instead
Of adding some ebay Rice.
