Question self level susp inact message display

Hi there ya all,

I had this message pop up onto the screen yesterday:" self-level susp inact." and it stayed there for 5 min before I stopped and turned the ignition off, then turned the ignition on and away it was. Did the system check with the right hand knob, and it checks OK, no reportable faults. The message is not there anymore. Any comments? At time of message appearing, was driving at 60miles on a straight road. Cheers,

Same thing happened to me. Took it in to the dealer and they did something...some faulty sensor or something like that. Fixed it...temporarily...message came on again 2 days ago...time to bring it back

I had that on my '01 4.4i a couple of times. once while driving on the PCH, the other time right after starting the car and pulling out of the parking space quickly, maybe before it had a chance to "settle". I took it to the dealer both times and they didn't do anything... Both times i turned the car off and restarted and it didn't reappear.

I'm having this problem as well. About 3months after I got my X.
And it's been an ongoing problem since then, pops up at least more than 50 times now
Took it back to the dealers before, originally they told me that the sensor was broken...but I guess that was just BS! The message pop out in just 2 days... after they install the new sensor

I just took the car back to them just last week, and this time they telling me that the "claster" or "cluster", instrument inside that dashboard's broken, so they'll be replacing me with a new dashboard. But...doubt it'll do anything to it, I just dont believe that they can fix anything at all

had the same problem guys. after about 9k miles the message came on the screen one morning when i started the car. turned the ignition off and started the car again. the message was gone. it happened 3 times already.

the question is: do you guys have front and rear self leveling suspention? i have sports suspention without the more expensive self leveling option (i mean i do not have the ride height adjustments). i thought this was an error message for those air suspention. can anyone explain?

With the help of some info from Steved on the bimmerfest forum, I printed out his posts and took them and my car to the local dealer.

They replaced the central control unit and I haven't had any problems since.
