168's - Yes or No ??

I have just got a quote for the 168's (20" BMW OEM wheels) from my local $tealer - they can do them with tires for £2750.

I love the look of these wheels a lot more than my 19's. But, are they worth the extra money?

Ideally, I would like to buy them on ebay at a better price, but, surprise surprise, no one is selling them!!

My existing wheels on ebay would fetch between £700 - £900. So, the cost to change is in the region of £2000.

What do you think? Any advise would be appreciated.

Regards,

Dave

One of our members was selling a set of 168's. His last asking price was $1800USD. As of a week ago, they were still unsold.

Thanks for that. But really need the tyres also - they cost a firtune over here - rear tyres are £350 each alone.

Also, shipping those to the UK would cost a small fortune.

Dave

Talking

OK - here's the latest. The $tealer has just phoned me to see if I want these ordered. I said that the price was too high. They have just phoned me back and said that they would do them for £2500 - including tyres and fitting.

What a result - I gave the go ahead for the order. Will sell mine on ebay - hope to get close to £1000!!

I went through the same dilema. I kept my 132's, slapped on pirelli scorpion ice's on them and will use them next winter. After a couple of months, I finally found the 168's on ebay from Germany and ordered the tires locally. I'm loving the setup, GO FOR IT

You dont need to have the wheel arch extensions or you can certainly get them at a later date. The kit is about 530 quid from dealer.

Thats a good price definitely take it. I got quoted 1850 quid for the wheels alone.

I prefer the Michelins Diamaris tyre, prefer the tread pattern and the lack of road noise, I know some guys on this forum have commented on road noise from Toyos, nothing major though. Also like the kerb band on it does help a little.

Best price I could get for the full set of these for 850 quid incldg balance, valves etc.

Is dealer giving you the RDC valves as well, do you have it on your X. Make you get them if you have it, be about 30 quid.

Let us know and send some pics.

After giving the go ahead and paying a deposit, I suddenly thought - what tyres are they giving me???? Phoned them back and asked for Michelin's, they said that would put the price up big time! I wasn't having any of it and after 10 minutes on the phone to the parts manager, he agreed that the £2500 will include the Michelin's - Result!! (he was a nice guy and probably putting his neck out - hope his bosses don't find out ).

As for the arch extensions - they quoted £750. Is this worth it? Do I need these? Yes I do have RDC. Didn't know I needed new sensors though. Thanks for that, I'll phone the dealer back.

Regards,

Dave
