Help with Axxis Pads/New rotors etc..

I currently have the Mintex red-box pads, I hate them, they dust just as bad or worse then stock and I can no longer stand the noise..its time for them to go.

I also need to new rotors.

So I have decided on these items

1)Axxis Deluxe or Axxis Metal Masters Pads
2)Drilled and or Slotted rotors
3)Stainless brake lines
4)ATF Super Blue brake fluid

So I need help, which pads should I get? After reading this, Im still confused:
www.zeckhausen.com/axxis_pads.htm#Compare

I have heard of some problems with the drilled/slotted rotors on the track, but I am definately not going to track the X5, and under regular driving I dont see them being a problem, I just like how they look...

This seems like a good deal for the package?

Also..you guys think its worth it to do the SSL and super blue?

Thanks, Dave

1. Get the Axxis Deluxe (personally recommended to me by Dave Z.)

2. If you are going to get cross drilled then get the ones from Brembo, not ones that someone has taken the Brembo's and drilled them on their machine. Check with this seller, they had some of the best pricing http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAP...eeuroparts.com or else check with Tirerack. I was going to go with the cross drilled but ended up just getting the regular Brembo rotors from eeuroparts.com ($180 for fronts & rears)

3 and 4 not sure what these will buy you.

So, you went with Brembos after all, just not the drilled, hope the install goes smooth!

Topaz, stainless steel lines are cool, but the $$ is better spent elsewhere. No one is gonna see those, not even you...you worried about someone cutting lines?

Dave, I'm not directly familiar with them, but they look like a nice set of rotors. TireRack usually is pretty picky about their suppliers, so I don't think you'd be going wrong. Let us know what you decide to do.

Also, did you get my email last week? Interested in your thoughts...

Jeff

The SS lines are suppose to firm up the pedal response because it doesn't expand like the rubber brake lines when under pressure. The premium brake fluids boil at a higher temperature so you are less likely to get bubbles in the fluid if you overheat your brakes.

Do you need these benefits? If you don't track/autocross your X5 then I would say no. You might feel a difference with the SS lines and some of the premium brake fluids might absorb less water. Only you can decide whether the $100-$125 it might cost is worth it.

Dave, I run stainless lines on my race motorcycle. They provide more stopping power for the same amount of pressure on the lever (pedal). They provide more "feel". They make the OEM lines feel "squishy". I'm not sure how all this will translate to power brakes and an X5. I have OEM lines on my M3 and they have never disappointed me. I would certainly be interested in your observations if you make the switch.

I use the ATF Blue brake fluid in my M3. It is high quality stuff. And it comes in two different colors (blue and gold). Switching colors when you change the fluid makes it easier to tell when all the old fluid has passed. There is nothing wrong with standard fluid unless you are pushing the limits over and over (like Rayxi said).

don't mean to answer for someone else but...
There's nothing wrong with brembos. It's the drilling after the rotor is cast that's the problem. Drilling can create weaknesses in the rotor. There are rotors with the holes cast right in (no drilling) which are supposed to be structurally better. There are technical articles out there on the web - I can't recall where at the moment.
