Blower speed does not vary
The climate control blower in my 2001 X5 4.4i does not vary with temperature change, pressing "Max" button or dashboard control. I can turn it off, and then it stops altogether, otherwise it's at constant speed and does not vary. Any ideas what can be going wrong? I am thinking of replacing the blower resistor, but don't want to spend $75 unless I know it's the cause. Any ideas? |

I had a problem like this, but it would only happen sometimes or the a/c wouldnt turn on at all. I think the next service they replaced an air filter, or some type of filter not sure what it was. It's fine now. But don't take my word for it, I'm sure someone will reply soon.

Most likley it is your final stage for the blower, it is bascially a resistor with a large heatsink, it's design has changed 2-3 times.
