New owners.

Howdy Y'all... just bought our my first BMW for the Wife to drive... Imola 4.6is... should get it in a week or so. Looking forward to it... It was our compromise. I wanted a '02-'03 M5, she didn't want a sedan. We have a new baby (our second) coming in 1 month so the M3 wouldn't be so practical, although we now have a 2 year old that has spent some time in the back of her RX-8. Needed something a smidge bigger and spotted the 4.6 in the lot while we were re-examining M3s. Didn’t really think she would have gone for a 4-door, but apparently SUVs (SAVs) didn’t count. She immediately was drawn to the color and the look. I have always loved the look, but we already had one SUV so we didn’t consider another… until we drove it.

I have always had a BMW on my next buy list, just took a little longer to get one than I thought it would. Have been around them most of my driving career. My best friend had multiple classic 2002s in highschool, inluding one tii with IMSA flares. His Dad collected cars and had M5s, M technique 3s, 5s & 7 series and a mint M1 (I think it had a Group 4 motor in it). We would take out his cars on the weekends instead of going to the same old parties. Not too many people can say they have gone 160 in a M1 on Woodward Ave outside Detroit... Since then I knew I would eventually get a BMW.
Anyways...

This site looks great. I have a ’95 Toyota Land Cruiser and frequent ih8mud.com for all needs, mods to fixes. Haven’t come across a site as helpful until I started looking for X5 sites. This one is great as well and look forward to a long relationship.

Grose Ile huh... I had a college roomate at Albion from there. Forgot his name... graduated HS in 1988 or 1989. I just moved from Royal Oak to Houston 3 years ago. How are things in the Motor city? As bad as I have heard?

The MI economy as a whole could be better, but overall I still love this area of the country. I lived here from 93 until 2000, and moved to the Chicago area from 2000 to the end of 2003. Moved back to Grosse Ile because this was "home" and where I wanted my kids to finish their middle school and high school years.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98; PalmSource/hspr-H102; Blazer/4.0) 16;320x320)

:xoutpost: I can't see if any pix are posted (I'm posting on my CP), but I'm looking forward to seeing pix of your wife's X5.

Look up Imola4..8is in the member directory - his X5 is a leading example of what can be done.

Congrats on your purchase!

Thanks for the welcome...

as for the mods, they will have to wait... I am restoring a '67 Alfa Romeo Duetto and my '95 Land Cruiser needs rod ends and a front axle service bad (165K on originals).

Come to think of it, this is going to be an exercise in restraint. I have already found about 5 things I want to do to the X when I get it... aux input is #1... Dinan Supercharger is a bit down on the list.

My Wifes Radar is already on high gain as far as buying anything for it... and we don't even have it yet.... suggestions?
