4.6 Kit Quote

I just got a quote from my dealer for the 4.6 kit for $600. including front bumper spoiler, rear bumper spoiler, 2 caps
51-11-7-062-604
51-12-7-062-601
51-12-7-062-599
51-12-7-062-600
Do you think its reasonable? My local dealer gives me another quote for $1000 which is insane. If everything works out. I give have them on in a week.

That sounds like a pretty decent deal. I remember the rear 3 pieces were about $350 for me...

Hey there - I want to do this conversion as well (sorry for the kinda hijack) so I'll be riding along with your little project . To my understanding, after reading the front page articles, it's possible to put a whole 4.8 front end on my 2001 X5 w/out PDC? I'd go your route but will most likely convert the front end to 4.8is.

The thing is I want to make it look as much original as it would. the current headlamps don't go well with the 4.8 front end. I might got a thread that says "whats wrong with this picture" as soon as a member saw my car.

They don't?

I see that this guy's '04s headlamps still look somewhat the same?

Or am I missing something?

Yeah I realize it is the whole bumper - this article had that part# in it - http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/b...3-0i-4-4i.html - hopefully someone here has done the conversion from a 2001 to 4.8 before and can provide pictures, that would probably be my all-deciding factor.

It's a much more involved mod that just replacing the front bumper. As benathon stated, it's a facelift. You'd need front fenders, hood, headlights and bumper.

As a suggestion, if you really want to change the appearance of your front end, check out an AC Schnitzer front bumper and combine that with a 4.6is/4/8is rear spoiler. It looks very good like that.

You would have to do a complete face-lift if you want the look...
