P1340 Engine Code????????

I'm hoping someone can help me. My 2000 4.4 triggered the SES light last week. The code was P1340 which is a Misfire on multiple cylinders at start-up. The light was on for a day or so (5-6 starts) then went off. Over the past week it has came on and off in the same pattern. I have noticed no problems with starting or performance. There have been no other codes triggered. Could this be related to the cam pos sensors? I replaced the front passenger side about 1500 miles ago. My thought was to buy another sensor and rotate it thought each cps position and see if it resolves the problem. Anyone had experience with this???

Have the same problem, have not figured it out yet. Only difference is that mine stays on solid. I have cleared the code and it trips again within five minutes. Please post if you figure it out.

I replaced the cam sensor (top) and it fixed the problem. going on two months and no code.

what code did you have? My '03 X5 4.4i (66k miles) coughed up P0345 every other day after clearing each time it happened. The code indicates bank #2 circuit malfunction. I figured it is the intake but not sure if it is on the driver side or passenger. I hate to replace the wrong one. Thanks in advance.

Its not very hard to change the cam pos sensor. Buy one sensor and replace one side and if that doesnt fix it then undo what you did and replace the other side. One thing Ive noticed is that the replacements from BMW is bigger than the original ones so check to see is any one of them was replaced allready and replace the older one. I bought my x5 used and when I changed my sensors out I changed just the older smaller one. I then reset the Service engine soon light at auto zone and the light never came back on. My car was giving to code p1340. Hope this helps.
