Question ATTN ACEDEUCY! INVISION Head rest Problem..

Ok so my wife took out the X5 to a function with my daughter to Pittsburgh Childrens Hospital. She said on the way back, "You have to take this back!" I said why, and she replied that as she is driving the Elmo video my daughter, (A.K.A Judge #1 from previous pictures)was watching was going in and out of reception.

In other words 88.3 was the station it was pre-set for the DVD system well when your going down the road it plays Elmo and the gang then it flips back to the radio station for a bit then it flips back to Elmo?

Any ideas?? Is it something wrong with the InVision system, the radio, the install by my dealer or ???

Any info you can come up with would be great! And no I have not called Joe at A&L BMW because my wife just got home at 8:15 and the dealer parts closes at 600 pm.

Thanks, I will be anxiously awaiting your reply!

Since it uses a FM transmitter to broadcast the signal to the stereo system, it needs to be on an empty frequency. It sounds like there is a radio station on that frequency in your area. You need to have the installer change it to another frequency.

It sound like a problem with the FM mod transmitter.
You might have a loose antenna connection or the frequency might have to be changed.
I'd suggest taking it back and let them know whats going on.
If the problem persists have a car audio shop check it out. They will have no problem fixing it.

Well I certainly dont want to take it to a Car Audio shop since BMW Dealer installed it. I should be able to take it back to them.

I just asked AceDeucy about it here since it might be something that he can reccomend vs. taking it to the dealer, making an appt and spending another day with the car in the shop.

Thanks for your reply!

Do you know how to change the FM modulator's transmitting frequency? It simply sounds like the FM frequency currently being used is competing with a local FM radio station. Moving the modulator's transmission frequency should do the trick.

I don't have the an Invision system (yet) so I can't help you, but check your instructions to see if you can change the frequency. It's often done by moving small DIP switches that I imagine would be located on the control box (or you may have to remove the cover). You'll need to find a frequency that is clean (you don't want even faint radio noise if you can avoid it). Even though you had a dealer install it, you should learn to do this yourself in case you move of if a new radio station springs up on your transmission frequency.

Have you tried just listenting to 88.3 on the car radio or a home stereo? Is it a "clean" frequency as I've described above?

I work for a radio station and know a little about this. And... I couldn't have said it better myself. That is it for sure. Just to let you know as well, check 88.5 and 88.1 on the dial. Most station use the upper and lower side of a freq to get the best signal. So if you have a station at 88.1 it might be jumping in and out of pahse with 88.5.

Good luck, let us know how you make out.

Whistle

I'm here Sergio...

Ok your FM Modulator is transmitting on a frequency that is being used by a radio tower somewhere near your current location..

If you will direct your attention to your remote control.

Directly under the RED power button there is a button labeled DVD -A-

Please press that button one time. (This will designate the remote only to work on the MONITOR -A- (Your Drivers side headrest monitor)

Directly under that DVD -A- button there is another button labeled Sound Around ON/OFF Please press that button and make sure that your FM Mod is transmitting (It will read in green on the screen FM MOD CH1 88.3)

On the remote directly 2 bottons to the right of the Sound Around ON/OFF button there is a button labeled Sound Around Select

That button will change the frequency that the system transmits on from 88.3,88.5,88.7,88.9,90.5 and so on. After you change the frequency that the system is transmitting on, please change the radio station on your X5's radio to match the station displayed on the -A- Monitor in green and you should have a clearer signal.

YOur system is functioning properly keep in mind it is only FM modulation and because of your demogrphical location signal might fade in and fade out if you come close to a Radio Tower the is broadcasting 50,000 watts of funk from a radio station. The headphones however are IR and will never fade in or out, but I realize that my very discriminating judges are to small for headphones at their ages. Please contact me on my cel or at the office if you need additional help. Thanks Sergio!

Peace out!
