...Boned by BH Auto/Body Group in LA....

....after a 2 hour, $260 diagnostic, stealer says the PDC harness for one of the sensors was not re-assembled correctly, causing it to drop onto the exhaust tip and fry, necessitating replacement parts to the tune of another $200 (noted on the service invoice as being 'incorrectly reassembled after repairs to rear bumper')....how should I handle this with BHABG?...bygones and eat it to end this unpleasant chapter in my life, or raise hell and demand they reimburse for repairs?...They did a nice job on the repaint of my ass after my 'Deliverance' moment last month...(see 'I feel like Ned Beatty'...) but I also realized one of the workers swiped 2 of my prized, bright green Wayne's UPMF towels I left locked in my glovebox....opines, please......

i'd calmly point out to them that how were you to know that they incorrectly reassembled the PDC and ask why you should have to pay for their mistake. if they correctly reassembled the parts, you wouldn't have this problem. as for the towels...maybe you could use that as leverage...say something like you had 6 or 7 towels missing (don't know how big the towels are) from your locked glovebox and that they're really expensive and see what their reaction is. if they say there weren't that many in the glovebox, then you have them, ask them how do they know unless they went into the glovebox...kinda like the girlfriend planting some lingerie around, saying it's not hers and seeing how you react. if they don't reimburse you for the damage they caused, i'd report them to the better business bureau, and if they're part of some auto mechanics licensing group, report to them as well. if they're gonna hurt your pocket book, you might as well hurt theirs. if you have the time, you can always do what some guy did to hornburg jaguar/rover; he sat across the street from the dealer with his rover with a sign that said hornburg sold him a lemon. don't know the outcome, but i'm sure he did some damage. i guess it all depends on if it's worth the time and energy to possibly get reimbursed. in principle, you shouldn't have to pay, but we all know that sometimes principle isn't worth the trouble. good luck M.
