I bought mine around $65 (including bin and bottom rubber tray) a couple months. I don't think that I like and use it. I am willing to sell it at the price that I pay, besides I am in Norcross, GA. No shipping and you can check it out before you buy it.

<<if I recall correctly, BMW started using the empty storage bin and did away with the silly CD/cassette holder bin in 2003(?).>>

I have a two week old 2006 4.8is and it came with the CD storage unit!

I will have to find a dealer south of our border to buy one from.

I ordered in the basic "empty" bin, and got it today, took the two minutes to remove the old one (with the cd storage rock built-in) and replace it with the new.

This is a fantastic improvement. All of a sudden I have storage space for sunglasses, keys, ipod charger, phone charger etc!

Thanks to everyone for part numbers and advice.

BTW I now have a brand new CD storage bin to go... anyone want it for the cost of shipping and spare change?

John

Where did you end up getting it? I want one too but the price down here at Performance Cars in St. Catharines is too stupid to post. I swear they mark their stuff up 300%

X5andrew:

I got it through Towne BMW (www.townebmw.com) in Williamsville (Buffalo, NY). They were great, took the order by telephone and called me (LD) when it came in. They got me the rubber mat too, but it turned out when I opened the cardboard box that the new one already had the coin tray and the bottom rubber mat, so they just credited me back the difference.

My wife and I drove down yesterday morning and brought it back.

It is symplicity to remove and install the new one. You have to peel the sticky fastener off the rear lip of the old one and line it up with the mating surface on the console and then push down to finish. I used a broad blade screwdriver to lift the old one.

Guys,

Sorry to bring such an old thread back from the dead, however...

I just called two dealers in my area, gave them the part # at the beginning of this thread, and they both quoted me OVER $200 for the "storage console". I specifically asked them if this is just the bin inside or the entire storage console unit. They claim it is just the inside bin.

WTF?!?! Has the price gone up that much in 4 years? Or am I just an idiot and can't seem to ask for the right part?

Anyone buy one of these recently, like in 2010, and have a current part #, place of purchase, and price?

Any help is appreciated.

Cheers,

FLi
