New member In Edmonton! Now 8 days old....

Just wanted to say hello from Edmonton!

Just picked up a sweet Silver on black 2006 4.8is with only 59500kms!!!

NEW pics without roof rails, more pics as mods progress

Have already been using the site as some issues have arose.....Nav screen sometimes just showing BMW, radio works but nothing else. Otherwise if it is working the menu screen constantly comes up. Lexus west (where I purchased) is taking it to Bavaria to have it checked out.

Folding mirrors fold in and then out again.

Both seem to be common issues as I've been trolling around for a while hahahaha

Otherwise I love it, had a Dinan stg II 335 before this as well as a 2008 Touareg V8. Currently I also have a 1973 BMW 2002 as well as an Alfa spider (for sale!)

Cant wait to get more into the E53!!!

Getthig the wheels powder coated black this week, and should have the grill and hood vents done in black as well. Roof racks are gone ASAP as well. Next I have to look for some smoked LED tail lights......and in serious contemplation about the E46 M3 steering wheel swap

I'm not sure if I am going to do anything performance wise as I really haven't stumbled across any MUST HAVES just quite yet.

Thanks for the hello's....and yes it gets a little chilly up here!!

Do a search on forum for SMG M3 paddle shift conversion. I recently did a DIY--pictures and narrative. Also, there are several threads on exhaust mods. Dinan offers several engine, transmission mods. If you are interested in improving handling, Eibach sway bars will really help. An easy mod is to add spacers on all 4 wheels that help handling some and also make the tires fill the wheel wells better though you will need an alinement if you do that. Are you looking for dress items or performance?

I'm really starting to look at the dealer option for lowering it a bit as well. Anyone done this? Would be nice to have it about 1.5" lower on normal ride height. Spacers will likely happen very soon after the rims are done.

Due to using this for work and already modding it I want to keep the exhaust note fairly stock (which is delicious as is), maybe some kind of intake? Otherwise I just want it to look like its going to eat you if you get too close, hahahah. Im looking to make it a little more mean looking

I have lowered and added spacers. After much research I went with Turner Motorsports 18 mm spacers. My Style 87 wheels are now just short of flush to fenders. Any wider and I would be throwing junk on the side of the X. There have been many discussions about spacers. Many speak in threads you can seard of 20-25mm spacers but it is always difficult to sort out what wheels they have, if they did both ends the same and what X they have so that it is direct comparison to yours. I did both the same to keep the same stagger. I lowered mine by going with H&R springs and adjustable sensing rods. The sensing rods replace the fixed length rods and 'fool' the suspension to think it is at the stock level though it is lowered just over 1.5". Front is the same drop. Whatever spacers you choose be sure they bolt to the hub and and come with longer lug nuts. I liked the original exhaust but I love the new exhaust. There are also threads where some have changed just the muffler, added and X pipe into existing exhaust or deleted the resonator. Key is if you do anything be sure it does not create an exhaust drone at cruising speeds. If not, you will hear very little difference except when accelerating. There are several youtube videos of different exhaust options.
