2006 E53 Jumps into first gear

Hi All,

Hopefully you can help me out once again.

My 2006 E53 has always jumped into first gear when coming to a stop.

Whenever i apply the brakes slowly on traffic and reach a very low speed it will jump into first gear and you can really feel it.

Other than this issue the car changes gears well and does not give me any problems.

Does anyone know what the problem could be and how i can get it fixed?

Thanks

Tell us more about your car (engine, mileage, etc.). What do you mean jump into first gear. Does this mean your (presumably automatic) moves from D to 1? Have you ever had the transmission oil & filter replaced?

Have you tried this thread? http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...s-summary.html

Bit of a read, but a ton of good info nonetheless.

Unfortunately, they all do that.

I was fortunate and had the transmission replaced under the certified pre-owned warranty. However, this condition was starting to come back after about 30k miles on the new trans. I did the 6L transmission fluid drain/fill process and that helped it out. Used the ZF Lifeguard 6 fluid. Not cheap, but it really helped. Transmission shifts very smoothly and no 2-1 downshift slam -- not even a hint of it.
