Manual Phonebook Entry

I am finding Sprint is the worst provider for bluetooth compatibility with BMW. However just because it will not download our phonebooks automatically and it has problems with other features, why can we not enter the phonebook manually. Has anyone done this? The sound and hands free feature work great when you are in the middle of a call. I also cannot find a way to enter names. I am using a Samsung A900. Any advice?

John

I use a Sprint Treo 650 with my '05, and it works perfectly. Phone book (actually the favorites phonebook) transfers every time I start the X. Which Sprint phone are you using?

Samsung A-900. I dont think it can transfer the phonebook, but why can we not enter those numbers and names manually? I understand the Treo only transfers the favorites and not all the listings.

BMW's phonebook scheme is a little different than say Lexus. Lexus requires you to manually upload the phone book, where it stays in the car's memory. To update it, you need to re-upload it. BMW's system loads the book every time you start the vehicle, then trashes it when you shut off the X. I believe their theory behind this is, is if more than one driver drives the BMW, it will load whichever bluetooth phone that it "sees" first. ie: you and your wife drive the x, both have bluetooth phones...

Thanks for the info guys. i guess thats why you cant manually enter the phonebook. The other link seems so say the Samsung A-920 works well and maybe there will be a new version of the A-900. Anyway good find. Thanks again.
