Exclamation Warranty or Maintanance? HELP NEEDED

Greetings to everyone,
I'm on my last 2 weeks of my warranty on my 2002 X5 3.0i Sport. I'm not the original owner.
1- I have read that I can not extend the warranty beyond 4/50000. Is this correct? Then what are my options to save as much possible on repairs?
2- I have asked the BMW service rep. for warranty extension and they said that I could only extend the maintanance on this vehicle only and he is asking for $1695.00. I found this a little be too high? Does anyone know any better detter deal than this one for the New York area or even New Jersey? Please contact info f any.
3- Is it worthy to get the maintance extended?

I will greatly appreaciate your help, as always X5World is a great source for my X5. Thank you guys for making it happen.

You CAN extend your warranty beyond 4/50K. How you do it is the issue. I am a fan of the BMW supported Original Owner Protection Program. As you did state, you are not the original owner but I have heard of some dealers selling the BMW warranty despite the fact that it was being purchased by a subsequent owner. YMMV on this one.

The $1695 warranty your dealer is referring to: Is it the BMW one or an aftermarket company? If it's the BMW one then the price is not high at all. I doubt it is the BMW one because the dealer cost is more than that. It is most likely an aftermarket one in which case you'd want to know what the company is.

Some people have used Warranty Direct.

Extended maintenance is offered through BMW dealers and whether it is worth it depends on whether you are going to be DIYing some repairs and/or whether you have a trusted independent BMW mechanic you could go to instead of the dealer. I have neither so I opted for the BMW extended maintenance. It should pay itself off after a set of pads and rotors and an Inspection II.

Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback, Kevin. I'm sorry I was not clear on the #2 option is not a dealer warranty is a Maintanance extension for $1695.00.
Can I PM you Kevin for a couple of questions?
